Oil rec.

I don't know what oil I run. I buy used skis and I run the oil I get from their oil tanks. So far so good. My ski has 67 hours on it and it's a race boat. I even did the Mark Hahn 300 on my ski and it has perfect compression. I think many people take the oil thing too seriously, I think the proper jetting is more important than your oil ratio. But this is just my .02

Never mix oils. Why in the world would you run 28:1?

I ran 50:1 in my SXR with Klotz Benol. I talked with tech at Klotz and they told me it was fine to run but overkill on oil quality. This was on my stock class SXR that I raced. Never had to rebuild it from 2004(new) til 2009/10 when I sold it. Still had the same compression from day it was new.
Is it bad to mix??

i have been mixing oils for many years. i had cases of high dollar synthetic oil and i would mix it with cheap oil. full race engines require way more oil than a rec motor. my polaris octane requires 28:1 according to the engine builder. if you look at an old 440 with the stock stickers, around the gas cap it says mix 20;1 in very cold weather conditions. supposedly oil requirements increase as the temp goes down.

Haha...the first post was a serious question.

If he told me he got more chicks at the beach when mixing Kawasaki and Walmart oils, I might have believed him.

I run amsoil interceptor at 50:1.. although at $40 a gallon i thinking i may switch to something cheaper.. Is there a difference between different types of full synthetics? Or is interceptor just overkill for a non-race motor?

Run a cheaper oil but at least make it a two stroke motorcycle oil. Petroleum, semi or full synthetic there are lots to choose from.

Outboard oil has a high ash content and is designed for lower-constant rpm, not a good choice for a new ski.
