Old Man needs help with Pole change

Great site by the way…
I’m almost 60 and playing with my 1991 superjet.
Got a 1996 pole for it, now I ride 2-3x a year for pleasure no crazy stuff, hope to do it for 20 more+.
Question
I was going to try and use stick bracket in case have to put old one back on.
I’ve read some things about trimming the 96 pole so it can lift up higher.
My hood latches are in the way and the block for pole latch is not allowing the 96 to be centered.
I really don’t want to spend more for a bracket $300, than I paid for pole.
Any decent lower cost brackets or advice to modify things to make this work.
I know I have to fab something for steering cable but not worried about that just yet.
Just looking for some solid advice, without breaking the bank, as 3 kids and the way things cost lately just trying make it work.
Thanks a lot everyone for reading this.
Again fantastic site, great reading.

@FyrHazard makes a great bracket. Watcon also offers one as well. Both should fit within your budget. I have a Fyrhazard bracket on my SN. Originally I modified the stock SN bracket. I'd recommend not modifying the stock bracket as it is more trouble than it is worth.

Guys wondering why my chin pad does not fit into hood, it’s like pole should be longer.
Don’t laugh but making my own bracket, I have materials and welding available.
2nd prototype, going off my 1991 bracket.
Any ideas, is there a thick pad to put on hood to keep it up so chin pad won’t hit hood.
