Old School Helmet

I just recently got a 550sx and it came with an old Lazer Wetstream helmet that had come with the ski when the previous owner bought it. It's meant for the water and was used racing back in the day, and it turns out it fits me. It is DOT certified.

I also have a 2 or 3 year old Fly Kinetic helmet, and was wondering which one I should use?

I'm kind of concerned about the Fly helmet taking on water because it has so much plush padding. I also found a whole bunch of Shoei Jet X helmets on Ebay, does anyone have any experience with these?

Wear whichever one is lighter/more comfortable. The padding will dry.

I'm not entirely sure how old it is, but it matches the ski, and the previous owner said it came with it when he bought the 550.

The 550 helmet will be fine. Unless you hit a rock or a floating tree.

There is more than floating trees to worry about. I would rather have new technology. Other riders bass boats, and a old ass sun beaten fiberglass helmet do not mix.

The lake I ride in has a lot of floating trees, so it sounds like the Fly or maybe get another helmet that is similar.

It sounds like we are going riding tonight, my main concern now is probably actually riding. It should be fun .

I've used all my old motocross helmets from fly, msr, thor, and fox all the same. they all float lol but the lighter the helmet is, the better.
