sorry to hear about that Nick....

You need some positive mo-jo brotha!!!!

I agree, the water intrusion was caused by towing...

Now, how and why did the seal pop out???
I have done it twice now... once it was hydro locking and once was petrol locking.. both involved liquid intrusion.... I have never heard of one popping out on it's own...

Like everyone has said, it looks bad, but it really isnt. If you haven't already done so, you need to get rid of all that water and lube everything up, even if its only with WD40, but ideally, you should use oil to lube all metal parts.

Then clean it up, new threebond on the cases, new seals, new gaskets, rings, clean your pistons and cylinders up, and reassemble. Pressure test if you can.

if the seals are reversed (tits in) they will pop......

that is a sure sign to shut it down. when a ski feels better or more powerfull than normal for no good reason it's probably got an airleak and will seize.

hell yes.......

if your ski is giving you the ride of your life.....good throttle response...revving up FAST

its either got an air leak or is running lean for some other reason...

lean is mean

Eh....I don't buy that. Optimum RPM are achieved at optimum mix.

Go lean or rich and it will drop off.
So if it's running like a champ, it's tuned right.

I'm probably wrong.

The same goes for cooling line clogs. I was out riding a few weeks ago and for some reason the throttle was much crisper and the exhaust sounded different. Luckily I went back in because the cooling line that went to the stinger had popped loose at the restrictor almost sinking my ski. I did get to feel how the ski would run with no water going to the stinger and it felt great. All the more reason to make sure you restrict the water going to the stinger cuz it definitely helps.

Even though I know you're probably 100% right I tend to disagree with this statement just because of some experiences I had with my goped when I was a kid.

When I was a kid before I knew much about 2stroke motors(not that I know much more now:biggrin:) I found out that just before my goped would run out of gas it would rev up a lot higher and show a VERY NOTICEABLE increase in speed. As kids we would try and run them out of gas because we knew we would get that short lived increase of power(yes we were dumb I know).

Although I guess you could also say that maybe the goped's were tuned a little rich to be on the safe side because you are always running wide open and during that brief moment when were running out of fuel we were actually hitting an optimum mixture ratio? :dunno:

That's my take on it.

:brap::biggthumpup:

as far as reusing seals/gaskets.....each person is different about that

sometimes yes, sometimes no.......if they look perfect, no cracks, no bent...

most importantly if the CENTER HOLE is not all chewed up.....proably be fine

remember for next time: tits OUT :cheer:

They don't cost an arm & a leg. It would suck having to tear down again because of 35 bucks in seals.

Speaking of seals.....

Walrus to the penguin: you blew a seal.
Penguin: No no, that's ice cream.

:haha:
