I dont own one personally (yet), but I have ridden a ski or two with them and they are fantastic pumps. I would buy a complete H20 setup before I bought anything else, and that is my plan for this season.
Edit: H20 is really a no-brainer for me. You can get the whole pump assembly with bearings, driveshaft, and prop of your choice for around $1650

I ran a solas mag pump and switched to an H2O Torrent... I highly recommend using this pump. Amazing hookup in all water conditions, flat, surf, chop... you name it. Noticable gains in power delivery to the water. Never have wearing ring issues again (for you salt water guys).

But seriously, I think they weight difference is miniscule compared to the money savings. Even the skat pumps have a pressed in stainless stator section and the wear ring has a stainless sleeve. So it's not a lot of aluminum that has been replaced with stainless on this pump...

the only potential problem with any one piece pump, is if you happen to suck something up that chews the prop and wear ring, you cant replace the chewed ring.

the weight difference is negligable, esp when you consider how much better the hookup is. additionally, I've swapped out cones and several props fine tuning mine, and changing them out was easy, so do not let that be a deterant. I've pulled my pump several time in one day, on the beach, to swap out prop/cone combos...
the price point on this pump is perfect, and for what you get, it's a deal.
