Hey BK, I have watched you once or twice forget about your scuppers and get a half full ski. Jarrod wants a one way valve not two way. Yes the scuppers are wonderful for getting the water out quick. But they also do a nice job of filling back up if you don't attend to them. This will be a back up for the electric bilges. Hopefully will plumb a drain in his ski this weekend so he can finish his refoam project.

but never sunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Came close though.

Jarrod wants something simple and foolproof. A scupper is just one more thing to attend to.

duck bills do not fall off if properly installed,I glued my set on then ziptied them with heavy duty zip ties, they were on my ski for years. The versa plug looks like a great idea though,id be interested in seeing what there flow rates are compared to a duck bill, and if they leak even a tiny bit,I keep my ski in the water overnight with a duck bill and had zero water in it the next day

I've never really worried about loosing my duckbill, but have worried about it ripping. I've also used at minimum 2 zip ties cris-crossed and that sucker isn't going anywhere. But the flange that 'Crockett put on the ski has a nice lip and contributes to keeping it on there.

That is why I mentioned a one way.............. the versa plug would be nice on a runabout or SXR, but for playing, don't think they will flow as much.....

oh wait, this is for Jarrod, nevermind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao::spank: :wizard:

wait until you get a twig or pebble in the duckbill keeping it from sealing. . . .
why put holes in the boat anyway?
Hulls are supposed to keep out water!
If you are worried, install two bilge pumps and use the factory vacuum and you will be fine

3 years on duckbill on the SXR, no issues...............
5 years scupper, no issues but some leakage, which they all do.

no bilge pumps in the SXR, but it is a race boat, dont need it.
2 bilges in the SJ. no factory bilge.

I check my duck bill regularly for rocks, pebbles, bits of zip tie, so I'm not worried about that.

I have one electric bilge in front of the engine, one electric bilge in under the coupler, stock bilge/siphon, and one inch dump tube... my boat stays dry.

I started running scuppers long before I competed. It not an issue, just reach your hand down and push the scupper closed!!!!!!!! or turn on the bilge for a few seconds every once in a while.......... Better yet, when your just playing around leave them open, when you are gonna say, chase the Gen Jackson, put some plugs in from the inside.

Plugs for the inside is a good idea......However I would need a big plug for the SJ. 3.5in scupper!

:fing02: That's what he wants rrr... what I want is for it to stay Nice and Dry hassle free. Redundant systems are a good thing if one fails you always have a back up.:cheer::cheer:
Jarrods ski never stayed dry even with the bilges running. I hated riding his ski it was like wrestling an 800 lbs tuna.
