Opinions on best wetsuit size for me (no pics)

I think I want a NPX Assasin wetsuit. It looks cool and it has better sealing and insulation than the Cult model.

I am 5' 9" 33-34 inch waist and 181lbs (although after this holiday I'm 184 right now...)

Using the NPX size chart: http://www.npxwetsuits.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=42

I am pretty sure that makes me a MEDIUM. If you looked/weighed like me would you get a MEDIUM?

I am a little insulted by the thought of the "LARGE and SHORT" next size up, but if it's the best fit I would do it...

Thanks,

Aaron

I wouldn't get too insulted, I'm the same size as you (5' 9", 33" waist, 195 lbs) and take an extra large in the Slippery lineup. By their specs I'm a medium but I ordered a large from experience and ended up sending it back for a XL. Very shamefull these new sizes, I though I was ordering a wetsuit not a leotard. Best bet is to either get somewhere to try one on or buy a couple sizes and send the others back.

That's one thing I like about Dennis Kirk, they send a UPS package return postage with all their orders so just drop it back in the mail if it doesn't fit.

I think NPX is Neil Pryde with cooler graphics. Oh yeah, I searched for a local dealer and found basically nothing. There is supposed to be a kite surfing store about 70 miles from here, but the phone number listed is wrong, and Neil Pryde and NPX give conflicting addresses.

Medium or Large Short. A wetsuit is supposed to be snug, not make you feel good about the size tag.

If it makes ya feel better, I wear an XLS RipCurl.

Ha, I like the pee zip feature too.

I was thinking about getting a 4/3 or 5/4 like this for late season riding instead of a dry suit. I think it would be nicer to ride in, but I like sealed booties for my feet in a dry suit. Sometimes I am in air and water temps below 40 degrees. My current dry suit doesn't have booties and my feet freeze with the neoprene socks and wrestling shoes.

Aaron, Have u considered a semi-dry suit ? much warmer and the wind and water does not go through them....Neil Pryde 3000 series....I just bought one and love it....

A good wetsuit doesn't let wind through either, and hardly any water.
Most winter riding days, I stay dry in my wetsuit.

A very good choice. I got one of those. I am 6" even and 194 lbs with long arm and legs. I got a "LT" or 102 size since the "L" was short in the arms/legs and "XL" was flappy around my torso. Holds up really well and is good to water temps around the mid 30s. I use 34/34 in jeans if that helps any. Medium to large in US size t-shirts. Also, summertime I wear a long john/jacket combo from Jetpilot in "L". Fits snuggly, but not too much.

I would buy a medium if I was you... A tight suit is much warmer than a loose suit provided you can get into the suit and still move. I don't have a semi-dry suit but after an hour or two of riding, I typically have dry spots on my bathing suit when I peel it off. If wind cuts through your suit, your suit is either too loose or really crappy.

I bought the NPX Assasin 5/4/3 in large. The local dealer's number was I got a deal on a new 2009 one off of Ebay. It fits great. It is as comfortable/easy to move in as my Yamaha ~2mm POS wet suit. It is warm. I rode with Superramjet yesterday and he was freezing, and I was comfortable...except for mt feet.

My only caveat is that the neck velcro catches the liner and pulls/snags it. I have to be very careful putting it on or getting it off to avoid the velcro touching the liner.

I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

yes but he has a pic of the cult model above
The pic says assasin on the leg. I realized after I ordered that there are at least two Assasin's in 5/4/3 (not including color choices). One is all slick, one isn't. I ended up with the one that is not all slick. It's still plenty warm and fairly dry. It seals out water well enough that I would never pee in it...it's sealed up enough that the pee would probably spray out near the neck seal.

Anyone know of a decent John Suit in a 3-4mm? i.e. Long bottoms to ankle and tank style top - no sleeves?
