Freestyle opinoins on wdk1200

XS Scream fans crack me up. Die hard to the end.

Just over a year ago I heard XS was planning a 66E based motor. However the success of the hugely popular 865 stuff has taken so much time that the 66E is on the back burner still.

It comes down to a weight versus power issue. Plus XS is SMART and sells what they ride. I'm sure they could whip out a one off 66E with a billet case, billet cylinders, and custom lighter crank that could cut the weight difference in half. But with a potential retail cost of $20,000 how many will they sell?

WDK went the cheap way (relatively speaking) and replaced only what he had to to get the 1200cc motor built. It's basically the same theory as the XS865 except applied to the 66E. Unfortunately the WDK suffers the weight penalty of the 66E.

For ANYONE that doubts the raw power of the WDK1200 check out Skywalker flat water flipping a 400Lb Envy!

I need to get my hands on a Polaris 800 and a scale and see how the Polaris stuff weighs up to the 66E stuff. Malone has proven the Polaris stuff can perform, or at least be twisted into a form that will perform. Polaris based engines have dominated pro freestyle for the last what? 5 out of 6 years? It's a big motor like a 66e.

Rambling on.....

I thought the only downfall to the WDK 1200 was availablilty. Was its quality or performance ever really
in question?

I get a kick out of both X-Scream and Jetworks loyal fans. I currently own X-Scream but would be happy to own either. The problem is everybody wants to label one better than the other but they are different motors with different power types and cannot be directly compared.

I shot a video a few years ago that puts this whole arguement in perspective. It is of two buddies at the bottom of a hill on snowmobiles. One is a stock Bombardier Summit 1000cc fuel injected REV with a 163" track, the other is a Summit 800 modded with twin pipes and a ported 900cc billet cylinder on a 151" track. The two skis take off dead even but the 900 accelerates so much faster that it leaves the 1000 behind and takes the top of the hill in half the time. So which one is better? The question is, what do you want to do? Climb hills fast, or climb higher? The 1000 will climb anything you put in front of it and will highmark well beyond any other ski in the group, it just won't do it as fast. Personally i loved the 900 crankshop ski as it was so fast and fun. The owner of the 1000cc ski added a dry nitrous kit to level the playing field a bit but still prefers the 900 as well. (Both skis are his).

Everytime this conversation comes up I think about that footage. Torque and HP are two very different animals and it's the perfect display of the difference.

i would say if you choose wdk you are more die hard to the end buddy

more like stubborn stupid. haha. The only reason this topic is up is because of the used ones currently available.

last I talked to jeff a couple months ago he was planning another run of the 1200s

I'm sure he'll have more as soon as the Unicorns return his talking sea horse. Jeff has told me the WDK 1200 coming again story twice...unfortunately the stories didn't match.

I gave Jeff a fair chance this year, and at World Finals. The last straw was when he looked me straight in the face and lied to me about Skywalker's pipe.

do you want carbs and exhaust on the Polaris motor? Or just the long block for the weight. My 800 is on my work bench right now.

Long block only please. THANKS!!

it's pretty easy to order custom pistons from wiesco. i know jeff sucks. but the crank is oem... who knows. i just need something to last me for a few months until i get my polaris setup rolling.

i ordered one for a dirt bike about 2 years ago. i've prolly ordered 9 or 10 from them in the last 6 or 7 years for my bikes. one at a time. i'll shoot them an email and see if anything as changed.

It's so true the xs, jetworks, etc loyal fans...

I like my xs setup, can't beat them.... But if Blake gets his motors working and don't forget Mark Baxters motors... From what I've heard his 1000(Yamaha based) hits almost as hard as the 1105 motor.... Would love to ride one of his motors...

i don't think a 1000cc 62t based motor hits anywhere near as hard as a polaris 1105

The info was from the builder comparing his own 1000cc motor to the 1105 which he offers also. Powerfactorproducts Mark Baxter

Also I have heard his 1000 cc motor is non PV... Like I said I'm looking forward to trying one of these.

What would it take to lighten the crank on the 1200 and how much weight could you safely remove ? Could be a beast that spins up quick !
