This is for the average rider who would ride flatwater, surf or just a casual ride. A good freeride hull. I know some people go as much as -12. This is not for flatwater backflip hulls. This is for surf riders and people who need their skis multifunctional.

I know a lot of people have shortened X2's 1 inch at a time until they shortened too much, then added back or used a different hull at that optimum length.

This is only for people who have ridden shortened skis, and preferably different lengths. If you've only ridden a stock ski, this vote is not for you.

Be sure to post your answer with relevent specs (height/weight, steering location, ride plate length, etc etc.)

It can be shortened a lot with the stock steering location. I have found it far better to move the steering aft by at least 6" first. This makes it jump higher with smoother landings and less spray in your face. Turning also improves. You want to be standing at the rear edge as long as you are under 200lbs.

Good point. I have a stock length hull with stock steering, custom nose and Tom21 tubbies. I turn sub it in hard corners (170lbs) while my buddy says it rails hard and the nose never dives (220lbs). It's not rider skill, because I can destroy him on my stock Superjet, even though my X2 is cranking out way more power than the SJ. I have more time on the X2 than he does. I can definately see how moving the steering back would be a benefit. He only rides better than me in the hardest corners, and I really think his extra weight (50 extra lbs) keeps the back down, or rather, the nose up and dry.

mine is stock steering location with a stem conversion from WFOspeedracer. that has a 2" setback and a little swing to it like a pole ski does. 3inch neg on the rear also.. solid and stabil. tom 21 tubbies as well. building a xtreme x2 soon started last year but medic school still runs my life
