It was 80 Saturday and decided to get the ski out and ride. Ski is a Chan with TPE964, 49s, enhancer, pfp on pump gas. I chocked it like I always do by placing my hand of the cards to draw fuel. I did this a few time the ski cranks and starts revving out of control!!! I immediately go and to kill it and nothing, so I yanked my plug wires off and ski is still running. Out of panic I tried to bliping the throttle and noticed it bogged, then I remember reading that someone said to hold throttle wide open and it will die, and it did. All of this happened probably no more than 5-10 seconds, but seemed like forever! After this happened I was to worried to try and crank it again so I left it alone.

Anyone know what i need to check or do different next time, or what I did wrong?

Idle set high?

Or you have an air leak somewhere. It could be in the fuel lines if it’s been sitting or it could be from a gasket surface. If you are freaked out with firing it up again on dry land you can leave the ski strapped to the trailer and back it into the water to fire it up. The extra load on the pump typically prevents them from revving to the moon. This will allow you to dial in the idle and allow the fuel system to get rid of any air that might be in the lines. Once its running/idling fine on the trailer in the water pull the ski back out and fire it up on dry land. If it builds RPM you have an air leak and a lean condition which will be critical to find via a leak down test.

LOL, not to laugh, but yes most of us have had that happen. Worst feeling ever. I try to start mine every fee weeks to avoid vapor lock in the fuel lines. Primers help, but I always turn mine over a few times before starting to confirm fuel has started flowing properly before sending spark. FYI, i have Total Loss so its simpler to do. I believe you can crank a stocker by holding the red button while pressing the green. I also have clear return fuel line so i can confirm gas flow before starting.

Assuming all was working fine when you put it away and its not a new build, or no changes. I would blow into the fuel tank and check for leaks before anything else. Confirm it holds pressure, and that the lines are not leaking, check valve isn't hissing. After doing that if you prime it, start as described, and it runs away again you may have a fuel leak or air leak you missed.

Funny story from the old days from my dad. Drip gas, from a natural gas well, they used to run in their old cars back in the day. The octane is lower than regular fuel and therefore created a lean condition. They used to turn their cars off and they would continue to run.
