Super Jet outerwear ?

does anyone just run outerwear on there carbs clamped down would it work or do you need the filter for more air space and if so do you even need the filter since its on water or can i build a frame that is like a filter and wrap it in outer wear for more air flow than just covering the carb intake

Outerwears were designed for off road vehicles. They help keep dirt and debris from entering your carb/carbs.

When you put them on a water craft all they do when they get wet is help block off needed air to your carbs.
I tried them a long time ago(early 90's) on my SN SJ single carb to help keep water and they totally sucked, even when sprayed with silicone spray(repels water).
My DASA engine w/dual Black Jacks wouldnt even rev right when i put some outerwears on them once.

Get a good OEM hood seal and use the OEM individual flame arrrestor if you want the best way to keep water out for freestyle/free ride.

We tested the water repellant claim of pwc outerwear covers a number of years ago. Took a squirt bottle with gas and water in it, and sprayed a stream through the material (new). We could see the gas go through, while the water rolled off and wouldn't penetrate.

Not sure if they degrade over time, but the new one seemed to work as claimed. On the other hand, there are prefilters that are not designed to stop water. Just have to be sure of what you are buying.

And any time you change your intake, it can affect how the engine performs. Tuning may be needed. Gotta figure that more surface area means less restriction.
 
so whats my best option here the stock ones have 3 holesand is a smaller intake hole these have 4 can i drill the stock airbox on to fit came with no filters have some old k&n ones would there be enough air flow here with the box on there?

so whats my best option here the stock ones have 3 holes these have 4 can i drill the stock airbox on to fit came with no filters have some old k&n ones would there be enough air flow here with the box on there?

Make a new plate something like this is what I did, going from 38mm 3 bolt to 44mm 4 bolt.

we dont really have air filters. we HAVE flame arrestors. i think this is the point your missing. dont run it without arrestors as ill be towing you back :lmao: the most important part of the flame arrestor is to divert water! you say those are 44's? im sure james has a set of oem intakes you could grab at a decent price.

you do have it running right? if not your really slacking...
 
so wheres a set of oem intakes for these carbs at??? id like to order one or 2 if the one im making dosent work out well my theory is can i mount the flame arrestors at the actual front of the intake (the round piece ) so that it works for both the carbs


oh i see im just use to 4 wheelers and dirt bikes so they just look like air filters but there just flame arestors in the same shape so its just metal screens(no paper) that repel water do you spray them with anything to help keep water out

...talk to james. i know he has a handfull of oem arrestors. there is nothing to spray on flame arrestors. your over thinking this. oem arrestors will last forever, aftermarket fall apart.
