Custom/Hybrid Paint Protection Films or Other Soultions to Protect Hull from Abrasion/Rash

Has anyone used 3M or other paint protection films to protect finishes on A/M hulls? I'm concerned about protecting a brand new HAVOC tri-coat paint job from the inevitable rash from helmets, jacket buckles, bumps from other skis, etc.

Good looking ski. I have the clear bra stuff on the front of my truck. It works great and I have zero rock chips after 75,000 miles. The problem might be with the parts of the ski that has compound curves, the film on my truck wouldn't conform to a compound curve. On the flatter areas and simple curves it might work.

One installer I talked to was worried about the edges peeling back over time due to the exposure to water. They float the films out on a layer of water and then squeegee it out and the adhesive then holds it in place. I don't know if water will cause it to fail though. Seems to me it's not much different from a car driving along in a hard rain??

I don't know what my guy used exactly but it's pretty thick. Also these things are designed to get thrashed. It will only be a beauty queen for so long. I'm a nazi with my ski and they all get scuffed if you ride them as designed.

I use the clear 3M on the front of my Foot Rocket. I does protect it well and I've put it on twice now in maybe three years. It will eventually peel from the bottom. Krash hulls are also easier to apply it than what you have, though, because my nose is several flat surfaces and no bond line rail. Yours looks like a challenge to do the nose in one piece and have it look decent.

go for opti coat nano ceramic coating. It will give you 40% more shine, protect from swirl marks and protect paint job.
One company I talked to suggested Xpel with opti coat after to seal the edges of the film. At first I thought he was over selling but the more I think about it the more I think it makes sense. What's a fair price for film + opti coat?

Try 3M 90000 Paint Defender. It's a spray on that drys to a clear film so you don't have to worry about the sharper edges. It's fairly inexpensive and when it gets a bit worn just peel and replace it.
