Pay pal sucks

I know why pay pal does certain things but there should be a limit. I sold a mod bpipe with the money on hold until package is received and the shipper sends confirmation tracking to pay pal to release the funds. My buyer is happy and has the bpipe and pay pay pal is telling me up to 21 days to release the funds because I haven’t sold anything in awhile. I now have carbs that are shipped out and those funds are on hold also. Just a rant but this company is a joke. The buyer could sell my product for cash and I could still be waiting for pay pal to release my money. Complete joke.

Ive had this happen a few times recently, the first time was when I sent 2 payments for my hull. They held the second until I got it which I didn't know but I called them and released it.

Low volume sellers need to build up credit and trust. That's why Paypal holds the money until they are reasonably sure it wont end up costing them. Twenty years ago Ebay was more fun. It was basically an online dumpster, an easy way to turn garbage into cash. A buyers only way out of a bad deal was through the use of a credit card. Then the seller would always leave negative feedback.

I've been a long term member of paypal. They do not hold funds for me when I sell things. I'm not sure. But I think it goes off length of membership. Amount of claims. And amount of transactions.

PayPal also refunded me 450 dollars I sent friends and family to a guy on this site when he got his account hacked. I like PayPal alot. Done over 100k in transactions and haven't ever been burned.

Paypal works off scripts based on how frequently you use the service. So if you don't use it much and all of a sudden they see you making a high dollar transaction its auto-flagged till its figured out.

Have any of you found a better payment solution other than paypal? Im in a similar situation where paypal is holding my money. Im having a hard time grasping the fact that i have to ship stuff out without having the money in hand. Theres no protection or sellers.

PayPal favors the buyer. For sure. It still offers protection to the seller. It just doesn't cater to sellers who want quick turn around.

Fwiw. Paypal never holds my fees. I sold a 3000 dollar engine and I had immediate access to the funds and still had the engine in my possession. Abour 2 months ago. Being I've been a long term member who's attached bank account hasn't changed in 20 years might have something to do with it. But there is no better way to sell things besides cash in person.

Same here. Been using PayPal for ages and have never had funds held until now. It was an over seas transaction so, I’m guessing that’s why? Also, you can’t physically speak with anyone at PayPal anymore. It’s all automated or texting. Their customer service has always been great to deal with on the phone. Fingers crossed i get my money and I’m not out parts!

A guy on here got his account hacked and I sent the scammer 3 or 400 dollars friends and family. I was able to get ahold of a person at paypal. And after explaining my situation. Paypal ate the loss and refunded me my money. Perhaps they pursued the thief. But I doubt it. This was last year. So maybe it's changed since then.

I think I've done a over seas transaction. I cannot remember if it went smoothly or not. I wouldn't do one nowadays though. Not worth the hassle imo. Either way. As long as you take pics of your packaging. Get proper weights. And delivery confirmation. There isn't really a reason to be worried. Good luck!

What a poop show... 2 weeks later and i finally got paid for what i sold... Paypal is a joke. They have no explanation of why they held funds. Paypal states that they will release the money 24hrs after its been delivered. False. Tracking showed delivered 3 days after the original transaction. The buyer had to physically log in on a desktop to release the payment which "he didnt know how" to do.... He was also short $36 on the original payment... It all worked out but was alot of unnecessary stress.
