But if you select "gift", and you get ripped off. You cannot get your money back.

If money is sent between two different "personal" paypal accounts, then no fee is charged even when sending as a standard payment.

I have to disagree.
Every time I used paypal, and selected gift, a fee is charged over and above the specified amount.

When you send as a gift it will give you the option to either pay the fee yourself, or if you dont pay for it, the person your sending to has to pay the fees. They have gotten wise to the whole gift thing. Im sure they were losing out on a lot of money..
I am pissed at paypal right now. I sold a Seadoo 720 complete gasket/seal kit to a guy in Canada, he paid promptly. 5 days later his money is yanked. i had already sent the kit. i messaged him and he told me that he did not start a paypal dispute, I believe him. It was his bank i guess and on paypal it says "bank inquiry, results pending paypals decision"... ghey as hell! He does not know why. We have both called paypal and jsut get the run around. its been over a week for paypal to decide WTF...

News to me then regarding the gift option....I haven't done it in awhile. That makes sense that they finally caught on. I'm not a huge fan myself, have had a couple sour transactions where PayPal was to blame. Too bad there's no one else to use.
