SXR Peak RPM on a SXR

What should I expect my peak RPM's to be on my SXR? I live in Saint Louis and my ski has a wetpipe on it... I was getting 6800 on the tiny tac, is that pretty good or should I be revving into the 7000's?

Does anyone know what a stock SXR will peak at?

Yeah I noticed a lot of people recommend 40:1... The ski's sticker on it recommends 60:1 though. Should I run 40 because of the pipe? Or what is the reasoning for the difference?

If your electrics are good and motor tuned right you won't experience excesive smoke. I run 32:1 in my B1's and my Trinity/Dasa and no plug fouling. I ran 32:1 in my BOB/DASA with T/L and a .045 plug gap with no fouling. More oil equals better crank bearing lubrication. Some say I run excessive oil. Everyone has an opinion on here ( if you have'nt noticed) run what works for you. I also use Amsoil Intercepter, probably have someone here tell how it is crap too, Ha Ha

Is that Intimidator or Dominator?

from pro-am stock testing all with stock prop pitch;

6500-6600 dead stock avg.
6600-6700 good running stocker
6700-6800 usually a few tweaks to get here, or you got a lucky boat;)

7000 good stock class boat 6900 avg rpm with normal bolt on stock stuff
7400 good running stock boat with wetpipe
7500-7700 good running limited class with dry pipe
7600-7800 good running twin open class boat with dry pipe
7700-7800 good running twin pipe open boat

Ouch so according to Mtrhead I am about 600 rpms shy of what I should be? Doesnt your location/elevation effect RPMs too? or does that just affect which jets you would use?

I am right in line with what Powerhouseperformance says, where are you getting your numbers Mtrhead?

experience, yes I'm in Michigan cool water and less humidity that Stl.

Also you said you have a wetpipe. The other comments were on stock setups including the guy you referenced.

Its all about the setup. To get 7000 rpm in a stock boat you need the right setup...you can get even higher but it gets harder.

A decently tuned SXR with wetpipe should be pulling at least 7K RPM. Here is AZ during the summer (115F), you will be lucky to get over 7K

I was pulling 7440 with a wet pipe, 46mm Blackjacks, Advent, Total loss, ported cylinder and aftermarket head. I cracked the cylinder so I have Art at Jetworks building me a motor and remap the Advent to suit. Should pull like a truck.
