Not to be that guy but your ski is 23 years old not 17 lol. And to answer your question you could mill the head and put a better prop in. Also a intake grate and ride plate would help.

Lol I read that wrong I guess I am the guy lmao. I had a 15.5 skat in mine and it seemed to be spot on. As for the head I'm not sure how much.

You can mill the head right up to the dome. This might be a little excessive for some people as you will start to get into more expensive fuels. .050 should be a good number without haveing to use race fuel. Also a thinner copper head gasket will yeild the same result. I run a 15 pitch in my 550 and it runs great. How much performance you gain is directly propotional to how much money you want to spend. A good prop will do much more in a blueprinted pump and a bored nozzle. Porting the cylinders and having them matched to the intake and exhaust, along with polishing will give you noticable gains. Also a total loss ignition makes a huge differance,... just depends on how far you want to go

An aftermarket prop will make a noticeable difference, along with boring the pump nozzle you can get a stubby pump cone to give you a little more bottom end. Some handling mods I would recommend is finding a quicksteer plate off a 650, you will need the pivot bolt/nut and bushings from the 650 also. It improves steering control and also moves the bars forward about 2" so you have more room in the tray. A set of 0 or 4 degree bars help too instead of the V bars that came stock. I can bore your pump nozzle for you if you decide you want to try that.

That prop should be fine, a 13/16 might have a little more bottom end punch but either will work fine. Boring the pump nozzle involves enlarging the opening on the back of the pump, the nozzle is the tapered part that the plastic steering nozzle is bolted to.pump.jpg
