You pretty much can put anywhere, they are so damn light that won't make any difference. I usually run then right above the scupper tube

i don't think i have that much room behind the motor in my bob

i have a gen1 bob and the motor is almost touching the e-box behind it. So i wouldn't have room behind the motor

You can run the new antigravity lithiums and mount in about any hole you can find. They are less than 4 lbs and work great. If you need more info let me know. I run them, and am a dealer for them as well. I made a small carbon box for mine.
