PHP 898 - starting issues

After some starting issues we decided to pull the head to see what was going on. This is what we found..

Theres a leak somewhere, and just trying to get inputs where to look. We've rebuild the PW's and changed the head shell o-ring. Still seems like its getting pretty greasy plugs. Perhaps the PFP manifold is blown, or the gasket is leaking? Any advice to look next?

Sorry, my post was sarcasm.

On a serious note, leak from where? Only source for oil in a 2 stroke is the fuel.

40-1 mix ratio is 40 parts fuel to 1 part oil, not 40 parts oil to 1 part fuel.

Where the hell would that much oil come from? how long was this thing being cranked to try and start it? Did it ever fire?
 
We did hazel a lot with an epic charging unit, which gave us weak spark and lead to long cranking periods with no actual running. After changing to another CDI the engine ran fine for a period, but now it's acting up again and giving us start issues, especially when cold.

I have no idea. It looks like an oil/fuel mix, maybe a little water in it, but where is all that oil coming from?

I have no idea and am very curoius.

New engine or has it been in service a while and starting problem happend after running it for a while?
 
I had a Similar issue with excessive oil using amsoil. my power valves would look like that. Switched back to klotz the issue went away.

I also was running the php 898 at the time.

theres oily water on the top of the dome.
id check your seal on your dome to sleeve- not the shell to waterjacket
if the shell has wear the dome can rock around in there and cause power / starting to come and go
 
PM " Alex " here on the X or contact Zack at Powerhouse , Alex had similar issues and chased them for a few weeks. PHP guys worked with Alex and got everything straightened out right away. Top notch group of guys right there!!!
