it won't start until taking filter off and covering carb with my hand.

So your issue sounds like fuel delivery.
Have you pulled the carb off and checked out the insides? Clean? Dirty? Sandy? Rusty?
Should order a carb kit just because anyway if you plan on keeping the ski for a decent period of time.
I would check your pulse line as well and see if it needs to be replaced.

I've replaced all fuel lines and pulse
line. I took the carb apart when I first got it and it was clean. but I will take it apart again. still wanting to change out the total loss ignition

You'll have to find the stock ignition from someone and hope they'll sell it to you. I know the OEM parts for those skis are stupid expensive and hard to find.

Pretty much this. Why not diagnose the actual issue and get it running before you start replacing parts left and right. Like Taintless said, check your pulse line and carb pump section. Just because it is clean doesn't mean the diaphragms and check valves aren't degraded to the point of malfunction.

Wait, if it will fire by choking the carb, you do not have an ignition system problem. You have a fuel problem.

Also, That ski was not designed by PJS. It only used PJS driveline equipment. Laserjet was the MFG of the Ski.

I'll bet money the diaphragm that runs the needle and seat is either crispy hard or not soft enough to let the motor get gas. that's always whats wrong with those old round body carbs that sit for awhile. open it back up and make sure there is not one single crisp spot on that diaphragm.

well I know the ignition isn't the problem. I'm going off what I was told about the ski . I personally don't no poop about stand up' s. just wanting it to run good for the couple times I will take it out this year. I will take apart the carb and double check everything and see how it goes. thanks for all the info. ski will be for sale at the end of summer if anyone is interested shoot me an offer

If you know nothing about stand ups I highly recommend you sell it as it sits to someone on here that will know her inside and out. Not doubting your ability by any means or trying to insult you but I've met a ton of people that did what you're trying to do with some pieces of art and just end up completely ruining the value of it.
If the the ski that you have is that one in the picture you posted I wouldn't lay a hand on it until you get a bunch ( and I mean a bunch) of knowledge So you don't mistakenly butcher it.
