Planning on refoaming my ski this weekend! Do you have any tips?

This is the plan:
1. Cut out a 1.5-2 foot long “U” out of the tray (from gunwhale to gunwhale in front of the pump)

2. Pull the foam out by using a cupped grinding tool for a drill (while the vacuum is going), then powerwash out the rest of the foam.

3. Seal all openings with 5200 (steering cable, cooling lines, trim cable,
etc…) and 5200 the bondline then biaxial over that inside the gunwhales.

4. Pull the exhaust tube and scupper tube; glass over the 2 holes (how would you glass the 2 holes?)…maybe I’ll keep them?

5. Pour pong balls(?) into the gunwhales

6. Seal the tray back up

7. Stand the ski vertical and pour 2 lb foam into the existing voids

What do you think?...any tips?

Thank you in advance!

The Good Old Days
Cut the whole tray out and do the job right the first time.
Get rid of all the green glue in the tray area.
Seal and reinforce the sides and rear corners.
Seal the tops of the ride plate and pump inserts.
Install a trim tube (even if you don't want to run trim just yet) since you are in there anyway.
Don't spare the 5200.
Pressure test the tray area before you foam.
Give up on the ping-pong balls.

Wire wheels are great for the tight spots that are a pain to get out by hand. That and the more beer the more fun ! :beerchug:

Post up how you make out.
