Did you drill out the existing insert M6 thread with an 8mm Drill then install the self-threading mcmaster insert into the existing? Or do these completely replace the existing?MCMASTER CARR

I used some of these when the insert or repair comes out like the intake grate insert on my JS.

The trick is to run a tap in the hole first otherwise they go in crooked or strip out the flats when you try to put them in. Then once you are sure it is where you want it, install the insert with thickened epoxy. I run a bolt with some pva mold release on the threads into the insert then thread the insert into the hole to keep the inner threads clean. Make sure you run a tap down the insert inner hole to clean the threads before trying to install a bolt.
