Hey guys, I was riding about a month ago at Durhamtown and hit a huge triple and overjumped it a little bit. When I landed, I heard a horrific grinding sound that started but the atv would still drive normal. The sound hasn't stop and I immediately putt putted back to my truck. When I got back, I saw this hole in the side of the flywheel cover. I have no idea what caused it, if something chipped from inside and came out, or what happened???

Im pretty sure its not the crank or anything because I rode it back to the truck just fine and it didnt vibrate or anything, just has that horrible grinding sound. I pulled the casing cover off and everything there looked fine also, so if something did chip, its more internal than whats visible what the cover off. I know you guys, even though its a atv and not jetski, know motors upside and down. So any advice, probable causes, or any info is helpful. Thanks guys. Tyler

It looks like something definitely came out from the taper of the hole. There wasn't any loose peices In the cover? I can't believe it had enough force to go all the way through I'd look at the flywheel closer

Are you sure that piece isnt causeing the grinding?if it fell in the magneto would pick it up and its caught between your flywheel and magneto
