Pole Length?

I am looking into getting a KP pole for my Backie Chan and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for what length I should start with? This is my first A/M hull so not sure what would be a good length to start with, I know I can always shorten it later.

Thanks

The one downfall of the KP pole is that you can't really adjust the length (easily) like the RRP. The design seems like you really can't adjust it longer once you cut the tubes down (the RRP has a bit of in/out adjustment once assembled). So start a little longer than you think you want and work from there.

That is what I was thinking about doing because I am not sure what length will work best for me.

One thought you should keep in mind too is your height and where the pole mounts to on the Chan. Most A/M hulls move the mounting bracket forward more by comparison to the SuperJet. So if you were running a stock length pole in the SJ, then you might as well consider the pole as a -2 or -4, however further forward the bracket is by comparison to the SJ. I like the SJ stock length for my KP pole as I am about average height at 5'6. I find the stock length doesn't require me to lean forward stressing my lower back...and after a vicious car wreck a few years ago, less stress on the lower back is mandatory for me. I did also find that going to a -2 stock pole worked out quite well when the stock pole wore out and needed cutting down. Keeping that in mind, if the Chan bracket is moved forward more by default, a SJ stock length KP pole might be preferential, as you have noted too, you can always cut it down as needed to suit your preference. Just keep the cutoffs to act as spacers if you cut it too short, there is lots of clamping on these KP poles so I would assume using spacers will not negatively affect clamping capability.
