Pole up or down storage

Just a random question but do most people leave there pole up or down when not using their ski with a spring
I have always kept mine up and the hood off (it stays indoors when not in use)
but I have felt the spring has lost tension a little bit and I'm wondering if it is because of me leaving it in the upright position locked rather than down
but I do kind of like the less tension pole

My pole is usually down until I go to use it. Sometimes it's up in the morning. It hasn't lost its spring yet.

I will admit I did laugh a little
But wouldn't keeping the pole down save tension, because the spring is loose and wants to go back to its natural state which is pole down

Pole down=compressed state, up position,relaxed. I believe in the down position over time you would be more likely to loose "strength ".

wow, clearly I'm out of it today, obviously the spring pushes the pole up to compensate for the weight. derrrrrr my bad

I store mine in the up position as well as leaving the hood cracked open. I like to keep it up as much as possible.

Pole up and hood cracked open. Hood completely off of the seal. This will maximize the effectiveness/life of both the spring and the seal.

And be careful whilst manoeuvering the 'ski in this state on a stand or trailer. I hadn't quite got the roller door high enough on my unit recently and got a loud reminder of this as I wheeled the trailer out...

No pole spring here but pole upright to take pressure off hood. Hood up and resting on latch to allow engine to dry but I don't leave mine off to limit the amount of dirt or debris to come into engine compartment. Our garage door is open all day so its just in case anything in the air.

Unless your garage door is short ...then for sure bungee it down upon withdrawal.
