whats everyones opinions? does a polespring hurt the freestyle ability of the ski? i've noticed it is harder to get on the dood with a polespring. any other opinions on this subject?
You can run a spring and run pole tight both, kill 2 birds w/ one stone. THats how I run it.

The point is:
Once the pole is below half way down they are a PIA to lift back up (if you ride for more than 5 mins. at a time). The spring helps only below half way down.
My pole will stay in any position I leave it (GOOD-N-TIGHT) but the spring definateley makes a dif.
I know this because last season I ran my A/C pole tight w/ a spring until the spring broke. I ran it for a month or so while I had some stainless springs made to replace the UMI spring (wich is no longer made). It friggin killed my back after about a half tank of gass. I hated it. Put a spring back on and wolla no mo back pain.
YOU XMW pole guys just dont get that I guess.
I certainly don't get that with my XMW pole. I have it very tight, so I don't think a spring would really make any difference at all. I can ride all day with no back strain - the pole just stays wherever I put it. You have to have it so tight you have to really crank it to make it move on dry land, since it loosens up a bit when everything gets wet.
x2 I'm running AC pole on a XMW bracket with XMW dual bolts. I ahve no trouble picking my pole up off my hood, or bringing it down. It's crank down so tight a spring would never make any diffrence. I move it easy, but it stays good and tight where ever i put it
I'm guessing your running a stock type of bracket?
My blowsion spring forced my stock pole upright with the bolt loose, I tightened it just enough so now it moves free but stays where I put it.
Brian, your a wuss!!!!!!!!!!
I have raced my SJ a few times with the XMetal Pole and no spring, not an issue, and I do not have my pole tightened up like many does. when you get the right amount of tension on it it will float with you while still giving leverage when doing flat water rolls and such...
