Port the cylinder or just play it safe ?,

ok so I have a 09 superjet that I just lost my first rope end on. I'm going to fix it quick bu not sure of I want to do any porting or just keep it stock with a fresh top end , I now have a young child and and have less and less time to ride so I want to ride not wrench . I'm running a b pipe with an ada head now and not sure what to do. Any suggestions on who to use if I did the porting road and what the cost and performance gain would be ? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated

If you're looking for more power, reliablity, and quick turnaround time, get a ported top end kit from @JetManiac. He's got jetting specs for dual 38s and will keep it reliable and no constant wrenching. The performance gain is quite noticeable.. I've ridden a jetmaniac/blue ported top end and it was snappy.

Might as well while you have it apart. It will wake the ski up a good bit. Hit up @Nuklear6 and have him port it. He's right in Bordentown.

x2 on CPT/Chuck to do your porting/bore. I sent him a top end that was ported by a known builder and after a few seasons the cylinder was "tired". once he finished with it it hit much harder. much more aggressive porting on his end. Great guy who knows his stuff, and does super clean work. He is finishing my Big Bore top end right now.

I am not trying to bash in this post, just trying to offer friendly advice to someone who wants a simple transaction with great results.
My experience with CPT:
I only went through CPT because my main builder was too backed up and chuck said 10-14 days to port and bore my cylinders. It was over a month before I got my cylinders back, and he was quite hard to get ahold of. When i received the cylinders, there were marks in the bore from one of his tools that caught my fingernail. I also found the transfer ports to be untouched towards the edges compared to other cylinders I've seen(yeah, I get 61x transfers are harder to port but I guess Im picky and expected better). Chuck did offer to go over everything again and it looked extremely good when I got it back. I also had a crank failure mid season and he hooked me up with a "quick" bore that was a promised 1 day turnaround which ended up taking two weeks. He'll make it right, but you get what you pay for in communication and turnaround time. I also have a few friends who had ridiculously long turnaround times as well.

I personally have not seen a Blue ported cylinder so I cannot compare it, but I have ridden one of his motors with his recommended jetting specs and I was impressed.
Again, just my .02 trying to help someone out so they don't get turned away from the sport. There are tons of great builders out there. HPE is my top choice but he's been super backed up due to location changes, otherwise I'd recommend him right now too. Everyone has their own preference.

In your situation, @Blue is the no brainer thing to do. I don't know of anyone else who stocks ported top ends. I don't think there is anyone here who has been unsatisfied buying something through him. Hell.. He knows I run another builders cylinder, and has went out of his way to answer some of my tech & tuning questions when CPT couldn't.

I have had great transactions with both parties.

Blue rebuilt my 7 mil stroker and did a fantastic job.
CPT did a port job on a cylinder for my blaster and it looked fantastic as well.
Both parties communicated as expected and kept me informed.

I have 2 jm 735 motors. One 61x/61x. One 62t/61x. Both were bought 2nd hand used. Love them. I've ridden/ owned php and jet works motors. By far I like the jm/blue combo better.

jet works did mine and it ripped i sold it to upgrade and keep in touch with the guy i sold it to ! and its still ripping 2 years later ! but it will take a few weeks to get it done !

I second Jetworks. Art's ported a couple 701 cylinders for me, both of which were hard hitting maintenance free engines (one on x cases, one on t cases). Turn around time varies depending how busy they are. His tuning advice when running his product has always been spot on and there's never any pressure to buy parts you don't need.

you are the reason
What what is cylinder port and new top and run me ?
Well, looks like a few reputable people out there that do porting. They typically port the exhaust exit do it unloads quick. Porting can vary from freestyle, recreational, or race.
Say for example JetManiac short block engines even port the cases to allow fuel to flow more fluid and quicker. More consistent fuel flow, burn and exit. I would highly recommend a ported cylinder for sure though. Totally worth the extra bucks.

x2. I've ran and JM/Blue 718 and a 781 that were great, and currently running a CPT 836. Both builders are excellent, and offer different products. Never had any issues with either engines.... other than selling them in skis :).
