Porting and installing 62t in superjet

hey all,
I’ve got a RN with a somewhat tired 61x (135psi in one cylinder). It runs ok, but I’ve got a great compression 62T laying around and a set of porting templates I’m itching to try. What problems will I run into if I port this 62t and install it in the superjet? I plan to use the 61x head and the intake/carb set off the 61x. I’ve heard the exhaust bolt holes are larger on the 62t. Does anyone know where I can get inserts to reduce the thread size? Also, I’ve searched but can’t get a clear answer on wether or not the exhaust ports will line up (I will be running a Coffman pipe in case it matters)

Thanks for the help!

Ya so I could do that, but I really just want to see how I do with porting before I waste all that money. I’m mainly curious if this will work. I’ve heard it’s actually better to start with a 62t top end because it’s thicker or something. Not sure if that’s true

I appreciate the replies, but I'm really not looking to send anything out for porting or do a new top end/etc. The whole idea here is I want to try the porting templates I bought and I basically just want to screw around and see if i can make more power for not a lot of money. If i break/blow up this 62t, its totally fine by me as it basically cost me nothing. If that happens, I can always rebuild the 61x/62t (i guess its a "hybrid" motor in the RN superjet?). I'm mainly just curious if I will run into any problems. I ordered new hardware and thread inserts from @JetManiac - thanks for the tip @newbee

62t cylinder will work great. Dont raise the top of the exhaust port any. Just follow the template to widen the exhaust. Honestly most 62t cylinder the transfer ports match fairly well so dont go crazy there either. You can cause more harm then good if you get the transfer port exit angles off. You will have to gasket match the exhaust manifold to the cylinder. The 62t has a slight different shape and youll have to grind on the manifold a little bit, unless its been touched already. Dont let anyone tell you 62t cylinder wont work. It will work great. hopefully its a coffman sizzler exhaust

It is a sizzler and the manifold has been touched already lol. Seems to line up pretty well but I will touch it up a bit. Thanks for the info - that’s a big help!
