Porting engine cases

I have a sneaking suspicion that the 62t case volume is a bit high for a stock cylinder and there isn't enough to be gained in porting the cylinder to handle the giant openings people are putting in the cases. I think the effort done to create better flow characteristics is beneficial but most probably take it too far.
When I port my own cases I typically am only focused on smoothing edges, rounding corners and creating clean paths of flow and try to not increase volume.
With that said, I am not an "engine builder", I don't epoxy my cases, and most of the engines I build myself are on 61x cases (because I am cheap, and I believe they work quite well for stock cylinder, stock stroke), but I am typically happy with how they run.

your exactly correct! I dont recommend case porting on my 735 package. Hurts bottom end performance. Internal surface shaping and texture goes a long way for positive gains.

When you coming out with the case porting templates?! :D

I’m mostly done. I’ve probably stuffed about as much as I’ve taken out. The intakes fit with my VForce 2 reeds.
