Other Porting Resources

Ello lads and lasses, I thought about the recent talk over epoxy work and porting. After a few hours of compiling info and researching I found this little link. It is spreadsheet database with a rather comprehensive set of variables that may be of some interest to the guys in the know.

You will need some sort of office based software to open it, I prefer OpenOffice.org as it has worked very well for me, seems to require substantially less updating and less frequently than MS Office, and is every bit as capable. Here is the link to OpenOffice...

Here is the link to the porting draft chart.

You will see the following sentence, "Get a free copy of the spreadsheet: 2-STROKE TUNING - PORTING DESIGN CHECK (right click, and save destination as..)" click on the blue "2-STROKE TUNING - PORTING DESIGN CHECK" text to either open it or download it. Additionally, after creating this thread I noticed you can click on that text right from this posting and it will automatically give you the option to open or download. Anyway, I hope this might be of some use.

in theory it may be a good idea, but in the real world I doubt its practicality. why spend X amount of years / dollars developing porting & tuning specs just to give them away on the internet + you would be opening yourself to all sorts of "professional critique" from the prestigious members of x-h2o that try to copy your engine work.

I believe there is some sort of direction on how to use it. I think it is a "fill in the fields" type of document and it offers calculations in the corresponding categories. I'm sure I read something about it on that site somewhere. I didn't write it, as mentioned in the first sentence of the post, I merely found it.
