Powdercoat

After powdercoating my motor in my superjet. I'm curious to see what other people have done up for their skis. I'm looking for the next thing I can powdercoat on my ski.

Well it definitely won't fit in there
Your parts look good
Jason

Thanks!

While a trailer is beyond me right now, I am doing some rims for my dad. They got super corroded so I'm just planning to buff the corrosion off and make them look mint like the rest of his truck!

I'm thinking I'm gonna do my entire 550 engine as well. I'll get some photos of that when it's getting done

That looks sharp! What's the color used on the pipe chamber? What gun do you have? What do you have for an oven? So many questions haha

If my ski were to see salt I would pull the parts off and throw some clearcoat overtop
Might protect the powdercoat. I think I'll do that when I have a place to paint. Then I can buff parts as well

Sorry I don't remember the color I had them done. I had a local shop do it for me. I do know prep is a huge part of it. My stuff was a blasted down to bare aluminum. Idk if clear coat will help.

Most vein powder colors need a clear top coat to protect from UV and such. The clear coat powder is a very durable finish. If the item was prepped right the the base coat should be more than enough to protect against salt.

powder coat on aluminum in a marine environment is not recommended.it will peel and allow water to permeate in between encouraging further corrosion.
it does look nice but???

It's not excessively expensive. Looks nice, if I have to redo it once a year so be it. My only concern would be cooling but the water is on the other side (knock on wood)

It all depends on what your powder coating. Anything under the hood will be fine, I can see maybe a steering nozzle or ride plate peeling/ chipping but that's all depends on the person and how that use their equipment. I have not had to redo anything. All looks new still.

I'm going to powder coat some stuff and throw all the abuse at it as I can. I've got some a- arms on a snowmobile I'll probably do to test
