Who all has powdercoated their flywheel covers? Can that brass fitting that houses teh spring for the bendix remain in place (tape it off before coating) or does that have to be removed and installed again later? I was thinking about having it polished but I don't liek to maintain polished parts.

I always remove them and use new, only a $5 bushing, and should be replaced as a maintenance item, same with the case bushing, same bushing...

I wish I would have done this on a ski I rebuilt a few years back. Third or fourth trip out, the case bushing had a piece break off causing the bendix to not sit right and not engage.

I do powder coating at my shop. If the bushing is in good shape you don't HAVE to take it out. I used hi-temp tape to protect gasket surfaces and key components. You just have to be careful, and not sandblast these same areas.
