Power factor exhaust questions

First season running a powerfactor. Ran rrp in the past and worked great. Switched to pfp. I’m having issues with waterbox loading with water very easy and doesn’t seem where it should be on low end. If I am anything other then pinned the box fills very quick and takes 2-3 wot to clear it out. I have tried turning fcv all the way both ways and doesn’t seem to make a difference. I am now running it basically all the way closed. I went from the stock jet (130 or 140 I think) down to a 110. Seems like it helped a tad. Should I go down in jet more? I just worry about small jets clogging in surf. Should I get a different fcv? Chamber is cold, waterbox is pretty warm but not melting couplers. Any info appreciated don’t know too much about these pipes
Hull glass Tigercraft V2x
Motor 61x/61x 781 bb single 48 novi
Pipe new style pfp
Pump 148 mag
Prop skat swirl 6/14 5mm cutback
Light flywheel with charging system
Water temp in nj right now prob high 60’s

Dumb questions, but you double checked the fcv is installed the right direction? You have your water box line teed off from a pisser not direct from head to box?

Not exactly sure how you’d know a water box is completely full of water. Would think the engine is loaded fuel if it’s needs clearing out..

But if you haven’t already pressure tested your pipes water jacket, I’d do that, extra water could get via a crack

You’re right I don’t know it’s “full of water”. That’s just how it feels. It’s not a carb issue as I’m not running rich and have even tired leaning it out more and didn’t change it. It is a brand new pipe so that has done it since the first ride and I’m only on like ride 4 so I haven’t pressure tested it but I guess it’s something to look into

If it’s a brand new pipe let’s hope it’s not cracked but that can make you feel like you are running rich. Did anything in your set up change besides the pipe? Stupid question, are you sure it’s not just the fact that you are running a dry pipe on a smaller engine? Plus, you have stock ignition as well?

My 865 didn’t do too well with the PFP ran dry. I could tune it to make it react better and I was running Zeeltronic so I was able to give a lot of timing down low which helped. It just never had good power off idle. Ultimately, I switched to running the pipe wet and it was night and day difference.

I rode a similar setup hull with a 701 and pfp and it felt great. I know they work better with big motors but I know it can work good with mine to. Maybe my high speed tuning is good but maybe my low got a little rich somewhere causing it to load up and making me think it’s The water box loaded? I’ve never felt a “loaded up” carb so hard to say

Your more likely rich.... Being rich shows up for me @5mph for a bit then going wide open, the low circuit jet and screw really have an effect on it for testing.

You feel the engine heheheheh accelerating roughly and has some difficulty reving out cleanly....you feel the heheheheheh it in the bars and the boat...

I agree it can work good set up properly as well. But that’s why I asked if you changed anything else in your set up so we would know if something like carb tuning could be an issue instead of the pipe.

@Harbor @ngerk between yous and speaking with some other guys with good advice I realized I’ve been wasting my time thinking it was the pipe and it’s most likely low end being rich. I overlooked it and skipped right to pipe for a few reasons. Gonna lean out low end and go from there. Thanks fellas
