Freestyle Power Factor water box quality

^^ I agree 100% my first step would have been to contact the company and ask what they are going to about it. Then I would post either the positive or the negative to let everyone know. Those things are hand built. Have you never made one mistake in your life?

it may be ONE mistake..but it passed through 3 different finishing departments before it "passed" inspection

the media blast guy should have noticed it...
the paint/powder guy should have noticed it...
the inspector should have noticed it...
the vendor/packer should have noticed it...

but the way it tends to work unless inspection process is highly specific....

the media guy doent look because the welder passed it on...
the paint guy doesnt look because the media guy passed it on...
etc etc etc...

just simply people not paying attention to their job or not caring.....not much of a difference either way

just to follow up on this. I was refunded $20 and had the shop weld it up. I'm left to powder coat it myself

$20?!? My local certified welder won't even turn the machine on for $20! But I guess when they don't have a waterbox to send you for a month, you'll take what you can get.

I've welded up a few of those boxes to change the outlet angle a little. Lets just say it's 'interesting' stuff to weld

I will get some more pics tomorrow. But yes motoman96 hit the nail on the head. I have already talked with the guys at thrust and they agreed to pay for the welding but not the powder coating. They offered to send me a new one, with a return shipping label also. But I just went with the local guys as an option bc it saves time

that is unacceptable

why didnt they just send you a new one?

who did you purchase it from?

They Did. He chose to slam them and just fix it himself. Which after that, if there is a failure, that would most likely void any warranty claims in the future. Not handled well.

So you are saying that it is acceptable for large companies to send out this type of quality?

Large companies should have a guy at the end that inspects the part before putting it in the box!
No not at all, I am saying that manufacturers do not like to be publicly slandered, while this shouldn't effect how they handle the transaction, it often does. So unless you are going to handle it like the OP, and abandon the mfg and fix the problem yourself, and are actually expecting them to do the right thing you are better off giving them the chance.

Are you calling PFP a Large Company? Does Mark have any employees? Thinks like this will happen. All it takes to over look something is to be interrupted. You think and believe you have inspected it and box it up and send out. You think that Mark is not or would not be upset by seeing this? He would bend over backwards to correct it. Same with Thrust. They made the offer to replace it. OP chose to not take them up on it.

BK, I have no idea how large PFP might be. He might be making them in his basement for all I know.

Yes the OP did what he felt was in his best interest and have it welded.

I took that PFP was a large company from yamanube post, but I see that he only worked for a large company.

Thrust had a new box in stock and offered to send it to him no charge, power factor wanted to warranty it. He was modifying it to fit into a X2 either way he was cutting it and powder coat was going to get damaged.

You would think so! I know of a large helicopter company that that is having similar quality issues.

Why is it so bad to inform others of quality issues?

I think we all have a tendency to vent when we spend big money and its not perfect out of the box.Its not a bad thing he chose to fix it his way instead of the new one that was offered,I leave it at that.

Its not when the quality sucks and the Builder does nothing to make right. But when you come in slamming them after they had already offered to replace said part, cast a bad shadow on both parties involved. Is that fair to them?

People here are way to quick to jump on the "Lets slam the builder" bandwagon. Been that way for years. Hydroturf has been slammed several times, IMPROS, Wamiltons, Blowsion, you name it. And many times it was unjustified.

Ok, so point me to the post where the OP "slammed the builder"? All he did was post a picture of the build quality as he received an item and everyone jumps him.
