What pre-mix ratio do you use?

I was looking at the 650SX resto-mod on Group-K's website and noticed that as they increased the mods they increased the oil ratio. What's everyone running for oil ratios?

keep in mind, if you mix your gas 40:1, it will somewhat effect your fuel/ air ratio also.

I mix anywhere from 40:1 - 60:1, guestimate generally.

modern oils are amazing, did you know that yamaha outboard engines ( 2 strokes) are factory recommended 100:1?

I cant beleive it, my Grandfather has had one for almost a decade, and never had any problems with it running like that.

hard to beleive.

I have heard folks say they can feel the power difference on a ski, when using synthetic oil mixed 100:1, or 70:1 or whatever, some amsoil and others claim they can work that lean.

I use 40 to 1 full synthetic .I don't believe you get more power from more expensive oils .
I've yet to see data that proves more expensive oils protect better either .
I pay $11 gallon for full synthetic TCW3 certified at West Marine

Why would 40 to 1 seam to lean ?? that's actually more rich .

Lean = less oil correct .

He's saying the standard Yami recommendation of 50:1 seems too lean.

Edit: Oh, sure, make me edit mine, too! Just for that, I'm not gunna!

Actually I wasnt saying that.

I was saying that more oil in your premix, means less fuel in your carb mix.

the engine will be LEANER, and the combustion will burn HOTTER, like leaner jetting.

I assume its really only relevant if you are jetted right on the edge, and since most engines are jetted pretty rich to compensate for changes such as that it isnt noticed generally.

No, he was talking about the poll options at the top!

There is nothing in oil that gives power, has nothing to do with combustion. Just lubrication.

I prefer the Better Oils for my ski's. The SXR when it gets ridden is typically WOT all the time or it is on the race course. The SJ is fully built......

Yeah, there are alot out there that run Walmart Pennsoil, but I will stick with my Klotz Benol.

I run whatever is handy, be it the $5 a gallon tech2000 from walmart, or castor 927 ( when I remember to buy a bottle)

I even ( gasp) mix them sometimes!

I have ran Klotz benol too.

I love the bean oils, because they dont taste, smell, and burn your eyes as bad as the cheaper dino oils from being in the water behind the ski.

I run Polaris Gold. I bought 4 cases of it 2 years ago at a closed dealership auction. That will run out this year. Probably switch to the Penzoil stuff from Wal-Mart after that.
