Prepurchase Checks

Tomorrow I am looking to upgrade from a 550 to a superjet 701. The guy is bringing it to my house and i was curious for what i should look out for. He has it listed for 1700 with a trailer. Thanks

Stainless prop, not aluminum and thick. Compression. Motor mounts tight. Worn through the bottom from beaching. Shine a light in the plug holes to see anything glaringly wrong. Hood seal decent. Cracks in the handle pole, especially for square nose. Tray looks solid with no dips or soft spots. That's all I can think of

Check the VIN plates to make sure both match the title. On a square there is one on the rear rail and one in the engine compartment behind the pipe glued to the hood seal recess.

Well turns out he doesn't have the title so I'm not going to buy it
