I use the bulb type it is under my hood and has lasted for 3 years now. The one before this lasted 2+ years.

I think they dry-rot/break a lot quicker when exposed to sun light all the time.

I put in a new primer every Spring before my first ride. I've had too many croak mid-season. $12.00 and they're easier to replace while my ski is in the basement instead of on the ramp in the lake.

New bulb every year, they are 8 dollars on eBay. Cheapest preventative maintnance part to replace on my ski!

agreed, they last a long time under the hood.
Well I had bought two new ones already. Went to switch them out last night and both the old ones were working again..?.. I tried the WD last year and couldn't get them to break free. It would be easier to replace them now and not have an issue all season but that would be too easy. I'll keep a spare with me and change it at the lake if I have to.

Sounds like you need to tune your ski.. I know that can be easier said than done... I dont have primer at all and my ski fires up instantly.

I agree with the under the hood deal. Too much of a PITA. Mine was under my hood when I bought it, but then I ingested water once in the middle of the lake and I was
ed, since there was no way I was pulling the hood in deep water to get to the primer to purge the water out of the carbs. After my long swim to shore, I rode home and immediatley and relocated the plunger to the dash.I spent a good bit of time messing with the carb last year. I had issues with it dying at high speed. Got that fixed and it runs great low and top end. I could be a little lean on the low end but I think if I was lean enough to cause starting issues it wouldn't run good at the low end.
Might be a small air leak. I have to prime every time I start if it has set for any amount of time and maybe once or twice all day while riding.
Never checked compression. It's not weak (stock) top or low. Runs great. We have 2 sxi's and they both need a little shot of gas to start up every now and then. I've run against 5 other sx/sxi's and it's been even or faster every time. The more I think about it I don't think the low end is lean either. If I'm on the water it has pretty good snap in the low end. It does seam a little slow trying to come up from a sub but I think that's just the stock ski trying to pull my fat ass out of the water.
On a side note I ride between 5-6K above sea level. We took them out to Kentucky last year. I think we were a couple hundred feat above and I was shocked the difference a little more air made.

Same problem this year. Got a new to me SJ and had the same problem on a primer that was installed 4 months ago with nothing more than a few start ups through it. SJ starts without priming my remaining Sxi won't... go figure
Anyway anyone with the same problem heat from a hair dryer freed it up.
