So I tore down my square for winter build, re-installed everything yesterday, tried starting and only heard buzz/hum and negative terminal started to smoke.

What I did prior to starting : hooked starter plugs (black-black, clear-clear), ground line from ebox to bolt on block I think from starter, new plugs, positive cable from ebox to battery, negative from under engine to battery.

Battery was in garage all winter, so I threw it on the battery tender. After 1 1/2 days the green light appeared. Can these trickle chargers bring back a battery or just maintain them?

****Notes****

93 superjet, 701 stock ignition

This was a good working battery last year, as was the rest of the ski.

Engine and ebox were stored in my basement all winter. When I picked it all up to re-install, the ebox had condensation on outside. Although ,it has been humid lately.

Everything is where it should be. Did I fry anything? Will a new battery help?

Maybe found my problem. When i took ski apart last winter I labelled one of the wires coming from ebox "engine block".

Where does this wire go?

Stock ebox, it has 2 plug wires, 1 positive to battery, hook ups for start/stop, wires going to flywheel, and this one!! I had it connected to bolt on i think starter under exhaust manifoid( cylinder looking)

That one should go to the starter itself. The block should be connected directly to the negative post on the battery.
