Sorry for the Forum Crashes
We're doing all we can guys, but we're getting a ton of traffic and it's causing some problems from time to time. Short term, we've turned off the arcades, ran off those pesky Yahoo slurps and spiders (they show up as a couple of thousand visitors on the site), stopped the surveys, installed the latest versions of MySQL and PHP, and done some other fine tuning of Vbulletin. But some things are not going to go away until we get the new server. For example, we just crashed tonight with too many users at one time on the Vbulletin database driver MySQL. As the Vbulletin tech guy said, "hey, that's a pretty big forum you've got there with a huge database of posts and over 500 people at a time trying to search it".
The good news is the new server is ordered and should be on line next week. I'm not a techy, but it's got quadruple this, and triple that, and double whacha call its. It's brand new and expensive, so it must be fast. And the only thing on it will be PWCToday.com. We're confident these crashing problems will go away when we get it on line.
Again sorry and thanks for your patience,
Greg Pickren
