I know should need buy a mag pump but cant afford one right now
Searching around but most similar setups run mag pumps and im not sure how much that changes prop vs oem 155
My first build so just looking for a starting spot

I’m no expert but I’d say 9/16-11/17 ish. The mag pump will actually make the prop work harder and sometimes you need a lower pitch with a mag vs a 6 vein. For reference, I run a 9/16 on an 1107 with a skat mag setback. I ran the same prop with a PHP 1015 and a 6 vein and it worked ok. Assuming you have that motor running right, I’d say your safe with a 9/16ish and 3-5mm cutback. Maybe even a touch lower like an 8/15 or so.

Put some pics up of that Chan. I’ve got one in my garage too, I’ve got a pen 155 on the way and I’m looking for a bigger engine currently.

In my experience you will be happier with a lower pitch prop as your starting point. You might be able to spin more prop and can always move up but too tall of a prop really leads to disappointment. Also, bending a prop taller makes it tighter to wear ring and bending it Lower makes the gap bigger. So, you lose a bit of efficiency if you bend, say, an 11/17 to 9/16

Mag pump usually handles a taller pitch better than an oem pump.

Depending on your compression and timing curve and hull weight and reduction nozzle. I’d say you’re in the ballpark of 9/15- give or take 1-2 degrees on both the leading and trailing edge. I’d aim for that pitch so that you could repitch at home depending on what changes you make along the way.
