Back to post #1, this is my first time seeing a prop gauge, would be helpful if someone added useful information and answered the OP'S question. I am planning on ordering one and would like to know the correct way to use it.

my local guru says they are pretty tricky to read and the numbers vary if you dont read it right. i've got new ones here i've never played with.

The watcon gauge is very nice no doubt but cost $130 plus shipping and is no more accurate than the gauge I sell to friends that ask about them for $10 or they got them at freerides where I gave them away. $10 I'm not making any money on them just a tool I wanted in the toolbag and it was just as easy for me to make 1 as it was 100. I can still get them printed if anyone is interested.
As far as reading the gauge match the leading or trailing 2" of the blade against the printed angles. You may have to shim the prop up in the gauge depending the pitch #'s you are trying to read. It's critical that the gauge stays on a flat surface aka don't lift the prop gauge into position lift the prop instead

I guess it's still worth it if you are bending quite a few props. I'm about to start a new thread about that alone.

If you spent 20,000 plus on a ski and need a 130.00 tool to get it perfect it should be a no brainer if you ask me.
I agree, I have no problem buying specialty tools. I just want to be sure I can figure out how to use it correctly.

What we ment to say is if you buy a prop you should expect it to be the actual pitch you paid for..
Gotta love the brainwash we as jetskiers put up with. Yet instead we bitch about the quage quality
