Kentucky is real bad to, we pay property tax on everything we own thats titled or deeded a 6% sale tax on everything and a few years ago they changed the rules on cars, trucks and boats. no longer is it just sell price they look up the nada value and tax you on that instead of agreed price. exp i bought a truck for 600 but i got to pay sales and property tax at 5,500.[/QUOTE]
My dad has to fight with the state of NC from time to time about the property tax on his vehicles, all we own is rebuilt salvage vehicles, thats what we do for a living, but they want him to pay tax on a vehicle that would normally have maybe a 15K value, but its been totaled and when we sell them we get 50% maybe 60% of its value, thats all the insurance companies would pay us if we wrecked it again, its a fight but they usually come down to a reasonable amount, but not low enough IMO.
