Pump Alignment/Install

Correct , but who installs a pump shoe unsquare? I can see a factory shoe being out but not an aftermarket hull.
When you get an aftermarket hull and you go to install pump, and you push pump with seal up to pump shoe, then you look in engine bay and drive shaft is going to one side or another is the tube not square or is it pump shoe, using cold fusion tool, its the shoe thats not square.

If the shoe was already installed , install the pump to with bolts tightened to its final resting place , hopefully snug against the shoe all the way around , then install the three bolts for the midshaft (without the midshaft) and measure from the drive shaft to the midshaft bolts. If you don't get an even measurement then the shoe is off. This means your either redoing the shoe or gooping your rubber Oring. Then you can slide your midshaft on and see how square it is to the bulkhead. I would love to try one of those alignment tools though.

But in this case he doesn't have his pump bolts in the right spot . A little grinding and he will be all set.

Well, so far I feel pretty good about what I have..I did have to grind the holes out a bit, and that really helped give me more adjustment. I got it to where I felt it was pretty square in the hole/bulkhead and with a 2X4 against the reduction nozzle I leaned against the 2X4 and pulled myself against it..tightened the bolts down and to me it looked centered..I went to slide the midshaft housing on and all 3 of the holes perfectly align..I would assume I could go ahead and bolt up the midshaft housing?

if you feel the pump is aligned and its torqued down, then yes. grease the splines up

Got a question regarding the engine install/alignment, figure I'd post em here rather than another new thread

When I set the engine on the engine mounts, it sits pretty even with no shims in place. But, when I don't have any shims, what keeps the engine from just bouncing around on the mounting bolts? The cradle holes are much larger than the bolts? Can they just be installed like this, or does it require shims at all 4 points even if they are super thin? I have some pictures below of how everything sits without shims, and a picture of the engine mount holes. In my square it had shims at all 4 corners at varying thicknesses, that were tapered and seemed they would help stabilize the engine in place.
