Pump Cone ?'s

I got this pump cone in a lot of used parts some time ago & just now getting around to installing in my '96 B1.
This is the first one I have had & not sure if they are supposed to fit like this - Google search only has installed pics of them from straight on so hard to compare. Is the extreme outer edge supposed to be in the water column around the hub of the pump like mine is? The inside & o-ring fit seems perfect & it is mounted very solidly but I'm thinking it should not be wider than the hub?
Perhaps this is the knock off Chinesium version?
Thanks guys

Agreed Mark, thanks for looking at it. I am hoping that someone who knows alot more about these than I do sees this post & can confirm good or defective. If I try to grind or sand it would come out worse, I am no kind of machinist & sure there was alot of hydrodynamic R & D put into these things when they came out.

It might fit the hub of a different pump Better

There is also lot of thickness in the face of the stator veins behind the prop on some pumps..

I’d run the cone as is

That makes sense also, it just did not seem to me that it would come like that.
Are there known significant variances in the dimensions of 144 pumps?
