Pump Inlet Mold

Curious if anyone has a mold of a superjet pump inlet. Last year I destroyed the fiberglass inlet by sucking up someone's tow strap and I am unsure how complicated the repair is going to turn into. I did come across a pump stuffer insert from Blowsion but it appears to have been discontinued.

I never made a stand alone part but I have repaired/modified many inlets. Fortunately they are not terribly critical. They can be improved by making the inlet radius longer. The most critical part will be making sure the pump shoe is properly blended to match the installed pump. Any high spots here will make the pump vibrate and hurt low speed hookup.

Get a hold of Bobby diabolical aka diabolical composites. He bought all of carterb's molds and has some of his own. No guarantee he has exactly what your looking for but I'd start there.

Post a pic, I or someone else here could make you one, it's not like I haven't done it before, thats a pic of the 650 pump tunnel I put in the 300sx, I popped a mold and laid it up

Is it a pre or post 08 superjet? They have very different pump tunnels.

If it's a pre-08 you might have some gain from making it more like a post 08. Flatter and straighter.

Check out the Prowatercraft pump stuffer or the thread on PWCToday on how MTRHEAD is modifying his square nose, both are basically just making a flat straight surface from the intake grate mount to the opening for the pump. Might be easier to mold than the original curvy shape of a pre-08 pump tunnel.

That is most defiantly going to be an inside repair which involves ripping the tray open and laying up against a mold put on from the outside, as you already know all the foam in that ski is waterlogged and has to come out anyway.

Worx made a tunnel stuffer top loader combo setup out of aluminum that just slips in there and gets sealed with silicone. I've had a few and have one in carbon techs old race suerjet. Somebody maybe R&D also just made the tunnel stuffer out of glass. I think there is one of those in an old sj I have. You could just glass the crap out of it and notice nothing

Thats the approach I'm thinking of moving ahead with. Not sure what would be the best material for the mold. Not sure if shoving some foam into the pump from below and shape it from the inside would be possible.

Measure from the pump seal area and let me know how deep into the tunnel that goes , then add about three inches for good measure, let me know the result.

Ok I have the ski flipped over and cleaned up and had started waxing the hull, it will have to wait till the weather clears up and then I start laying it up. I should have it done in a few days.

I am going from the lip where the ride shoe sits into and making a tab that goes in round part that is formed by the driveshaft tube, that will give you enough reference points to get it positioned properly, I am also Layng some cardboard or 1/4 plywood in to keep it spread apart properly, it should make life much easier for you.

I have a gallon of PVA so I will send you a small bottle of it as well , you can apply it with a spray bottle like cleaners come it, it doesn't have to go on pretty but you will need to wax the mold thoroughly then spay it with the PVA before you install it into the hull, if you need any help I will walk you through the process.
