Pump Tuning Thread

Saw a post on FB asking about what prop for an OEM 155 Pump. Got to thinking, isn't there a thread here like the Carb Tuning Database? Well, could not find one. So here it is. Lets start this.

Pump: Torrent Non Setback 148
Nozzle Size: No Idea, have to measure!
Prop Type: Skat Big Hub
Prop Pitch: Have to look it up

Engine Size: DASA 820/830 Non PV 6mm stroke.

Any impeller and nozzle combo that matches the power curve of YOUR engine, simple as that. Probably not what he wants to hear.

I think which hull is important as well.

Pump: kavinci 148 5mm setback mag
Impeller: skat 7/15
Nozzle diameter: 90mm
Engine: LPW 735 62t
Hull: 2012 superfreak badass -4.3 glass

In the flatwater game I’ve found that there’s more to it than just matching it to your engine. Riding style can vary the prop a bit, let alone the hull.

For example I’ve had a completed ski setup for a novice rider and it works great. Put a very advanced rider on it and the ski seems off a bit. Since the more advanced rider can load the pump harder they spin the prop.

Regardless of this I’m you can get somewhat close with somebody’s recommendation.

Kevbo thinks everyone should be bending their own impellers so keep that in mind.

I would bend one in a heartbeat but there is a learning curve there , I made my own impeller bending tools , going at it without a pitch gauge and an adjustable wrench is not a great idea for most people on here .

Prop Type: 160/83 long blade I think
Prop Pitch: 11/21 very tight to stator

DVX. PHP 1015 on race domes. Prop is slightly loose.
Pump: xscream 155 (skat core)
Nozzle Size: 100/105
Prop Type: Skat
Prop Pitch: 13/16 not sure on cut back.

2018 XFR. TPE 1021 on race.
Pump: OEM 155
Nozzle Size: 91/95 ls10
Prop Type: Skat
Prop Pitch: 11/17 or close

DVX with C1 XS1200:
prop pitch: 13/19

XFS with the C1 1200: same pitch as TPE but not as great on combos.

DVX with the TPE 1200: same pitch as XS1200 but was loose a bit

Impeller pitch gages 8-30Deg laser engraved on 2mm clear acrylic flat so they work with any diameter. They are $35 shipped.
