Pump water intake blocked.

The pipe that goes through the hull that connects the jet pump water intake hose on the outside of the hull to the hose going to the exhaust manifold on the inside of the hull is clogged up on my superjet.

I am pretty sure it is clogged up with sand. The only problem is i cannot get it to clear,

I bought a 6mm steel rod which fit up the pipe with a little room to spare in diamater and put the rod in a drill and run it up the pipe from the pump end and its not clearing out the blockage. It just spins forever and does not clear it.

I tried shooting a high pressure hose water up the pipe and it doesnt clear the blockage. Water comes out in places it shouldnt like through screws into the hull and up around where footholds have been fibre glassed in.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

If it’s a stock ski and the tubes are stock straight pipe, I’d just replace the tube... Did that in a 97 RN... was pretty easy... got the new tube from McMaster Carr online

if your gonna try to save the old pipe, I’d try a long drill bit from the hardware store. They usually sell them in the electrical section for running wire in walls...,the drill tip might help get thru the blockage

Pulled mine out the back side, cut any flare off the engine side first, tap the tube to break it loss then pull out the back side by the pump... the foam In the tray makes it easy to guide the new tube in, then uses sealer to seal tube to the hull...

If you are getting water coming out of the tray then the tubes have holes in them and have to be completely replaced.

Also your tray foam is soaked with water now and needs to be removed and replaced especially if water is leaking out of the screw holes and footholds then water is getting in.

You need to cut the tray out, gut the foam and start over. Also a great time to replace the cooling lines with stainless.

Yeah, I agree here........ Sucks, but time to rip out the turf and cut the tray out or at lease cut windows to access the foam.
