wanting a ski I can mess around on like chasing down boats but still be flat water capable I'm between a Q8 sky and a phantom with a 701 setup ..

What are the ride difference?

I've owned a sky and ridden a phantom. Two different rides. I'd personally go phantom, but the sky isn't as bad as everyone says it is. Phantom is a wider newer style hull compared to sky

I've never ridden a sky, but I've ridden a kdx, dvx, helium, circus, badass, chan, T1, rickter...All great ski's, I won't knock any of them. However, the Phantom and T1 are the only one's I'd be comfortable on chasing down a boat or just cruising. Heck...I ran a few laps on the bouy course on my Phantom the other weekend just for fun! I absolutely love my Phantom. It does not ride nose high, makes a great setup wake, and still comes out of the water clean. Plus...they're sexy as hell! <3 <3

EME Q8 is a super strong hull but the Sky ride like total crap, if it were a standard Q8 it would stand a chance but not a SKY period. I have not ridden a Phantom but it cannot be as bad as a SKY PERIOD.
I disagree on the quality as every Q8 I have seen were near bullet proof in construction, I know the Chicago boys had one separate at bondline once and Eric made it right but the small angled body made with thick glass make them REALLY hard to break, thats all the good I have to say abut them. The Sky rides absolutely HORRIBLE.
