650/X-2 questiion

I have a 650sx I am wondering if you need to have the plastic peices that go all the way around the ski? Do they help keep a float or are they just there to protect the fiber glass when bumping into things? I am about to paint my ski and I much rather keep them off if that is possible... thanks

they are strictly bumpers and have nothing to do with floatation,you can take them off if you like...you can also turf them, which is nice !

Thanks for the quick reply, my personal opinion is the 650 looks so much better with out them.

you got it bro! look for pics of rails that have been turfed, like on most freestyle boats. you will find many pics on this site...
