Super Jet Question - 99 GP1200 pump assembly

If you planned on upgrading to an OEM 155 pump, could you use all the parts from a 99 GP1200?

The things I do know:
  • The wear ring is not tapped like a 144 and you have to bolt the sections together
  • The drive shaft needs cut and splined to appropriate length
What I don't know:
  • The stator section has that big water filter thing... can you drill and tap the stator for dual cooling like a regular 144 stator?

I don't know if the stator is diffrent from 1997-1998 and then 1999. But the 97/98's i've had, does NOT have the strainer/filter.
Just regular 3/8" hose barb.
But other that that, yes no problem "just drill and tap" the stator anywhere that clears the steering cable.

If you use a 155mm OEM stator in a superjet or superjet style application (most AM hulls that accepts pre 2008 superjet pump parts)
Then you need to add 15mm to the superjet driveshaft length (26 inch normal, make it 26.5") Due to the fact, that the 155 stator, sits 15mm farther back, than a normal 144mm.

@Christian_83 thanks for the setback information. That will be helpful when I send the driveshaft off to be cut.

and you are also right about the stator sections being different. a 98 GP1200 stator section is part number 63M-51315-02-00 with no water strainer thing. The 99 GP1200 stator part number is 65U-51315-00-94 and has that big water strainer on the side.
