question about fx1

I started riding a kawi 550 back in the 80's. Then for many years was away from the water. A couple of years ago I got another 550. It is all I have riden, and I really like the way that hull feels in the water. What sucks is the lack of power. Which brings me to my question... Aot of people have told me that the fx1 feels like a 550 hull in the water, but actually has power. What are your feelings about this, and does anybody in the NW Arkansas area have one that I could do a test ride on. With the price of a fx1,... I would hate to buy one to find out it wasn't what I wanted.

I have ridden a couple of sj's but did not like how they felt. However it is my understanding that the fx1 hull was more like the hull of a 550, and that is what I am wondering about.

I would like to ride one first,... then if it is what I expect it to be,... then yes I would like to buy a cool one.

They ride similarly. A friend of mine loves his 550 and likes FX-1s enough that he will buy one when the right deal comes up. He doesn't like superjets so much either. I think if he set up one the way HE wanted it and rode it for more than a couple hours it might be a different story though.

I had a couple real nice 550's back in the day, then when I sold them I bought a FX1, loved it, like a 550 on steroids with better handling, so we bought another right away. I get to ride all ski's often but still have my 94 & 95 FX1's (bought new). My wife's stocker is nice, but my Lamey ported cylinder, Factory piped, Riva carbed ski is awesome everytime I ride it.
Now I need her to stop riding hers long enough to install our 140mm kawi pumps and the 865ss Xscream motor sitting in the garage!!!
I would only change the FX1 for a Trinity or a Rickter!

I rode 550s for years and the only ski I've ever felt comfortable on is the FX. Everything else I've tried felt huge and heavy. I've ridden the Richter and the Matrix and they're probably great if you're transitiioning frpm a Superjet, but from an FX (or 550), they feel large and heavy.......no offense meant to these great skis or to anyone in love with their SJ, just trying to give an honest answer from a 550 bred perspective.

nottin like a FX

everything else feels to big and heavy to me also...
my wifes 650 is like riding a tank...cant throw it around and plowes threw everything...if thats what ur looking for....a big hull will do it


ever since i put Tom21 tubbies on my fx its the best thing i ever was on....all the stability of a bigger boat but still throw it around like before....best of both worlds

The pump will have to be changed to get any thrust in an FX1. Otherwise all standups are like beer, whatever you like is good.
